The Lac de Monteynard-Avignonet is one of the most renowned kitesurf spots in the French Alps, famous for its powerful and consistent south wind (locally called "le Vent du Sud" or "Vent de Sisteron"). The lake, a reservoir at 483m altitude in the Trièves valley (Isère), is perfectly oriented to funnel this thermal wind that blows almost daily in spring and summer.
