Wind specificities

West and northwest winds are dominant — they arrive with long Atlantic fetch giving clean and powerful sessions. The north coast of Ile de Ré is more exposed than the south coast. Thermal west wind builds in summer afternoons. The slightly angled coastline means wind is always cross to slightly onshore in westerly conditions.
