Les Estagnots is the main kitesurf zone at Hossegor, the designated spot for kite practice in the area. Launch and ride south of the "abeille" marker (start of the unregulated zone) at the rocky groyne south of the parking, staying north of the regulated "culs-nus" beach zone. Kitesurf is tolerated during summer only in the unregulated zone until 7pm (later after that). STRICTLY avoid the blue-flag bathing zones and do not ride upwind of them. Ideal in north thermal wind. Failure to respect these rules risks a permanent ban on kite at Hossegor/Seignosse.

The spot works primarily in the summer thermal north wind, typically 12 to 20 knots in the afternoon. West and northwest onshore winds are technically possible but the surf conditions and zone management become more complex. South wind is very unstable and gusty — expert only. The thermal north is the most consistent and user-friendly wind here.
