Parking

FREE parking at the Terre-Plein Ouest — directly next to the technical zone (1 min walk). One of the rare spots in the region with free parking in immediate proximity. Access: La Grande-Motte, Couchant beach, beach access no. 14-15, near the Nautical Center.

Wind specificities

Marin SE: THE reference wind — onshore, formidable wave spot! Can reach 30+ knots. Channel opened by Objectif Kiteloop (green flag) from 17 knots SE. SW thermal: 12-20 knots, calmer conditions. Beautiful freeride sessions. S: works well, onshore. E/ENE: also works, slightly cross-onshore. In strong SE (>30 knots): choppy and messy water — demanding conditions. Frequent rain. NW/N: offshore — do not sail. Go to the lagoon spots. Best period: spring and autumn (more wind). Summer can be light on wind — plan for at least a 12m kite.

Hazards

Regulated channel: access beyond 300m ONLY in SE force 5 minimum (17+ knots) AND in the presence of the green flag from the Objectif Kiteloop association. No teaching in the channel. Beach not huge, bordered by beach bars — limited space, be very careful at launch/landing. Left side of channel: jetty with fishermen. Right side: swimming zone. Downwind of technical zone: building (private beach) creating wind shadow. In strong SE (>30 knots): choppy and messy water, frequent rain. High attendance: windsurfers + kiters, go 100m downwind to find space. Maximum 50 kites on the water.
