Saint-Jean-de-Monts is a kitesurf spot on the Vendée Atlantic coast, one of the most popular beach resorts of the Vendée. Very long straight beach facing west with dominant southwest to northwest winds. Good beginner conditions in summer thermal northwest wind. One of the largest beach spots in the Vendée with plenty of space.
Access from the D38. Beach car parks at Saint-Jean-de-Monts. Full services in resort. Respect bathing zones marked in summer. Best at mid to low tide for maximum beach space. Northwest sea breeze builds from late morning.
Atlantic beach with swell 0.3 to 1m in northwest to southwest conditions. Sandy bottom. Significant tidal range — beach narrows considerably at high tide. Lateral currents possible. No rocks.

Open year-round. Best season: May to October. Very busy resort in July-August — early sessions recommended. Northwest thermal most consistent June to September.
Northwest to southwest is the main window. The north thermal sea breeze is very consistent in summer — builds from late morning and peaks early afternoon at 15-22 knots. South and southeast also provide cross-onshore conditions with rideable swell. One of the most reliable spots on the northern Vendée coast.
