Here's everything you need to know about La Nautique / Étang de Bages spot
If you're looking for a spot that catches the Tramontane wind well, you're in the right place! This body of water is a true wind trap. However, let's be clear: this spot is for experienced riders, not beginners.
Why? The launch/landing area is extremely small and is upwind from the parking lot. As a result, several beginner riders have already been caught off guard and ended their session... in the cars 😱 Not cool!
The launch isn't a walk in the park either: you have to slalom between the rocks of a small dike to access the water. With onshore wind, some riders have already gotten acquainted with these rocks a bit too closely...
Some points to note:
- The kite and windsurf zones are well separated (thanks for the cohabitation!)
- Watch out for fishermen's nets and stakes along the shoreline
- The water quality leaves a lot to be desired
- Beware of debris (especially broken glass) at the water's edge
In summary: a spot that delivers in terms of wind, but requires experience and vigilance. Beginners, move along for now - you'll find more suitable spots to progress safely! 🪁
