Spot that works with westerly winds (which often come from the north from Quiberon then turn NW).
Backup spot: Landrezac (beacon visible on windsup)
The beach is not huge (a bit larger at low tide), it's not a pure beginner spot but not a super difficult one either (0 obstacles except for catamarans, always some people without being too crowded, stable sea breeze).
In winter you can ride on Rohu + Govelins (it's the same strip of sand but two different beaches). In summer there is no channel at Govelins so you have to go to Rohu.
Intermediate
Open all year round
A fairly large parking lot limited to 2m height (vans ok), for campervans there are spaces outside depending on how busy it is. Do not block the gates of surrounding houses.
- The catamarans! They are tall, they generally ALL arrive at the same time (end of a time slot, end of a lesson), you need to time your launch well.
- Wingfoilers are also very numerous and quite often you have to zigzag around them (given the current popularity of this sport).
- The channel is relatively narrow at the beginning then widens, and in 30 seconds you're in open sea and there it's a dream.
- Watch out for swimmers and their zone as usual. Make sure to ask people if they know how to land a kite, sometimes they offer to help (which is nice) but it can be dangerous.
If the wind comes from the east (rare), you can ride but you'll be pushed toward the rocks to the west/SW of the spot (see Google Maps). At high tide it's okay but at low tide it's dangerous. It's better to go to Kerver beach in this case, or to Landrezac. Depending on the wind, be careful not to go into the swimming area (if you're a beginner for example).
Currently, there is no weather station at this spot. If you want to change this, help us fund one: Weather Station Project
