Barcaggio is a wild beach at the very northern tip of Cap Corse, directly facing the Île de la Giraglia lighthouse. With an end-of-the-world feel, blond sand, crystal-clear water and a wild backdrop, it is one of the most spectacular kitesurfing spots in Corsica.
Very exposed to winds from both sides — NE/E from the Ligurian Sea side and W/NW from the western approaches — this spot benefits from an exceptional wind record: 1,688 kiteable hours per year, including 707 hours of strong wind (22kt+). Best months are June, July and August, but it also works well in spring and autumn.
A hidden gem, little frequented and well off the tourist circuit, ideal for experienced autonomous riders who want to ride in total freedom in an unspoilt environment.

Access from Ersa or Centuri via the D53 — a narrow, winding mountain road characteristic of Cap Corse. Parking available at the beach. Count on a drive of about 40 minutes from Saint-Florent or 1h30 from Bastia.
Powerful and gusty winds: Barcaggio is located at the very tip of Cap Corse, one of the most exposed headlands in Corsica. Wind can be very strong and gusty, especially in spring and autumn. 707 hours per year of strong+ winds (22kt+). Experienced riders only in strong conditions.
Remote location: Far from emergency services. Caution required at all times. The nearest town (Ersa/Centuri) is several kilometres away.
Rocky shores: Rocky outcrops on the sides of the beach. Water entry and exit must be managed with care.
Free-range cattle: Corsican cows occasionally wander onto the beach — watch out when rigging up.
Barcaggio is a multi-wind spot, unique in Corsica. Its position at the tip of the cape means it is exposed to NE/ENE/E winds (Gregale, Libeccio from the Ligurian side) as well as W/WNW/NW winds from the Tyrrhenian side.
Wind is constant but can be very powerful and gusty, especially in transitional seasons. The crossing winds between the eastern and western sides of the cape can create complex, turbulent conditions requiring excellent technique and judgement.
In summer, a SE-NE thermal system dominates and is more regular and manageable.
