Main access point for kitesurf on Lac de Naussac (48), near the nautical base in Langogne (Lozère), at 940 m altitude. This 700 ha high-altitude reservoir (7 km × 3 km) fills in late winter/spring and empties progressively through summer and autumn. Two launch points: South beach (left of the base nautique) by S wind — very flat water; South-west beach (Mas d'Armand, 500 m on D34 towards Rocles) by NW wind — steadier with slight chop. Kite season mid-April to end-September. Camping adjacent. Restaurant "La Table du Grand Lac". FFVL-labelled. Facebook: "Kitesurf au lac de Naussac (48)".
Intermediate
Open all year round
Lake level drops significantly from mid-summer through autumn — check level before visiting. Some dead trees are submerged near the launch zone (visible at low water). Swimmers near the nautical base in summer. Do not drift into the wooded nature reserve at the lake edges. NE wind is highly unpredictable — avoid. Bring a harness, legs are very long!
Two very different regimes: South (most frequent) — comes in strong but gusty, builds from midday in fair weather, very flat water in front of the digue. NW (rarer but steadier) — rolls cleanly down the full length of the lake, slight chop possible, best launched from the SW beach at Mas d'Armand. West can also work on sunny afternoons with thermal build. NE is highly irregular and unpredictable — avoid.
