Barbâtre is the main kitesurf spot at the southern tip of the Ile de Noirmoutier, accessible from the bridge. The sheltered east-facing bay gives flat water in east and northeast winds — ideal for foiling and beginners. Also works on the ocean side in southwest to northwest wind. Very large tidal range. The Passage de Fromentine generates strong tidal currents nearby.
Access from the Noirmoutier bridge. Park at Barbâtre. East and northeast wind: launch from the sheltered bay side. Southwest to northwest: launch from the ocean beach. Check tidal conditions — sessions only viable from mid to high tide on the bay side. Respect all access rules on the island.

Open year-round. Best season: April to October. Sessions on the bay side only viable from mid to high tide. Access by the Noirmoutier bridge (D38) or the Passage du Gois at low tide.
Parking at Barbâtre, accessible from the Noirmoutier bridge. Services in Barbâtre village.
Passage de Fromentine tidal currents — strong at spring tides. Ferry route to Ile de Noirmoutier passes near. Tidal flats at low tide.
Two very different wind windows: east and northeast give flat water sessions on the sheltered bay side. Southwest to northwest opens the ocean beach. The large tidal range creates wind-over-current effects — best conditions when wind and current are not opposed.
